In 2014, during my first year of University I decided to get the title of Child Monitor, in order to work with kids in summer camps or extracurricular classes. Every weekend for three months we followed intensive classes and projects with a group of colleagues which became a family in the first day. The experience was exhilarating as we went back to being kids for two days, but with the adults perspective.
Our final assignment was to create a story for kids that would involve an important message. Always driving the assignments to my audiovisual vocation, I decided to adapt a story I wrote as a 3 years old together with my whole class. In my school, it was a tradition to prepare a book by class for the Sant Jordi Festivity, as it's a celebration of book and roses. Our story was this, the power of friendship.
For some time I had been wondering about stopmotion, but I didn't know where or how to start. This gave me the perfect excuse to launch myself, as I had simple characters, no talking and a same environment. The video tell the story of a turtle that, bored of doing always the same, decides to go look for the most precious treasure in the World. It doesn't know what it is, but wants to start this adventure. Along the trip, the turtle finds new animals that decide to volunteer in its search, as each of them has different skills. After some time, without any finding, the turtle realizes the most precious treasure is the group of animals that have decided to go it and help.
I gathered all the material I had and improvised the resources in order to visualize this story that I have kept in my heart since I was 3 years old. The experience of making the video was quite challenging, as I was finding the problems while I was doing it, but it showed me a new world to look up to, and that some day, I hope I can discover professionally.
