TURNING POINTS

"Turning Points" is an interactive movie we created with my colleagues from the Erasmus Program in Austria. It has been the most challenging creation process as the viewer can choose what happens next in the story. We could say it was the precedent to the now famous "Bandersnatch" Netflix interactive movie. Each decision drives you to a different genre, so all six of them are represented in different endings. Sometimes, we had to jump from romance to horror in one shot, so we all had to be very concentrated and know all the paths by heart in order to complete the stories. We created a great team so we could rely on each other when making a decision.

However, during the shooting week we had some of the most exciting and funniest moments. I was the camera operator in almost all the scenes, except from the ones that we shot with a Gimble. But I also participated in the project editing the making of, which is a good representation of the challenge and excitement this project has brought all of us. We all felt engaged and motivated by the originality of the project and the new experiences that we lived with it. It was a very intense shooting week, and everything was duplicated as we were all Erasmus students shooting outside of our country, in a different language and with new people.

In this project I learned how important is to divide the tasks in different departments and trust the team of each of them. As sometimes we think that participating in everything will turn the project more collaborative, but what it does is slow down the process and reduce creativity. Instead, relying on others with specific tasks gets the project moving and your learn to focus in just one thing, and so, do it better.
