ARTS STUDENTS' UNION

I couldn't have asked for a better experience when I decided to study a Master's degree in London. I got accepted in the University of the Arts London, a prestigious university in the world of the Arts, into the London College of Communication to specialize in Film Directing. I wanted to take out the most of it, so I applied to be Communication Assistant for the Student's Union (Arts SU). It's a shared job as there is one Comms Assistant in each of the six colleges that form the UAL, as the responsibility is to cover audiovisually the events that Arts SU organizes in them specifically, but also others happening everywhere. I try to sign up to as many as I can, as they bring new experiences, new people to meet and also, opportunities to develop my skills.

Being able to access the resources from my university I can expand my equipment. I can book a couple of lenses to be ready for the event that is happening, and I was able to use the Gimbal for my latest project, Varsity coverage. Following my educational knowledge process, I booked the Ronin-S one day in advance to be able to spend it learning how to use it. I always try to sign up for those events that need video too apart from photography as it is what I enjoy the most. Usually, the events that are bigger than one college, I'm the one who is asked to do the montage. After a couple, I started to propose some motion graphic effects that they really liked, and for me was an opportunity to learn about them. As a lot of the events that happened at the beginning of the year were about the sports teams, these kind of effects really match the style.

However, photography is always asked on the events, and it's been a great chance to develop my skills in photography. My interest in videos and cinema started with photography, but as soon as I knew how to record and edit, I forgot about it. This year I got the chance to reconcile myself with it, and learn more about it. And not only with photography but with editing pictures with Lightroom. I've realised that I really love learning new skills by myself, from my room with only my computer.
